Kent
Kent es un condado inglés, situado al sureste de Londres. El condado ocupa un área de 3.736 Km² y tiene una población (2003) de 1.599.912 habitantes. Su capital es Maidstone. Kent limita con East Sussex, Surrey, Gran Londres y Essex. Tiene también una frontera "nominal" con Francia en la mitad del Eurotúnel. Las dos localidades con status de "ciudad" en el condado son Canterbury, sede del arzobispado de Canterbury, y Rochester, sede del obispado de Rochester. Sin embargo, en 1998 Rochester perdió su condición oficial de ciudad.

Condado administrativo (pob., 2001: 1.329.653 hab.), geográfico e histórico en el sudeste de Inglaterra, situado a orillas del canal de la Mancha.

Los romanos dominaron esta zona a partir del año 43 AD, y Canterbury era su centro administrativo. En el s. V fue invadido por jutos y sajones y se convirtió en uno de los reinos de la Gran Bretaña anglosajona. El rey de Kent acogió a la misión cristiana de san Agustín en el año 597. Santo Tomás Becket fue asesinado en la catedral de Canterbury en 1170. En este condado, largamente conocido como "el Jardín de Inglaterra, se cultivan productos como manzanas, cerezas, cebada y trigo.
